Ex-mayor to run anew for Congress in 2019 polls

TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines — “It’s in my heart,” said Cheche Toribio delos Reyes, former Carmen town mayor, on her intention to run again for a congressional seat in the 3rd district of Bohol, in the 2019 elections.

A supporter told The Freeman that delos Reyes may have a big chance this time considering that the political field in the district, of which Carmen town belongs, is already “level” with incumbent Representative Arthur Yap exits on June 30, 2019.

Other political observers in Bohol also agreed and that delos Reyes might be the stronger contender than any other for the third district congressional race.

The post is to be vacated by Yap who is reportedly eyeing to gun for governor, with last-termer also, 1st district Rep. Rene Relampagos probably his running-mate (for vice-governor). If she’s lucky in 2019, delos Reyes would become the first female representative in the third district, political pundits added.

Delos Reyes’s bid for governor in 2013 and congresswoman in 2016 may not be as good as her winning hands down for the mayoralty post in her hometown of Carmen in 2010. (FREEMAN)
