Global Cebu hits back at JPV Marikina

CEBU, Philippines — After faltering twice in their previous three meetings, Global Cebu FC finally hit back at JPV Marikina via close 2-1 decision in the Philippines Football League last Sunday night at the Cebu City Sports Center.

With the win, Global FC stayed at fourth spot in the leaderboard with 37 points behind FC Meralco Manila (45), Kaya Makati (41) and Ceres Negros FC (38).

JPV Marikina, on the other hand, dropped to sixth with 27 points, just a matchstick behind the Stallions Laguna.

Paolo Salenga broke the the ice for Global FC with just three minutes gone by in the game

Hikaru Minegishi followed suit at the 49th to five Global FC a 2-0 cushion at halftime.

JPV Marikina kept on attacking but could only hit a goal at the 52nd courtesy of Jay Baguioro.

Global Cebu hopes to climb up the standings when it takes on Kaya FC Makati on October 21 at the University of Makati stadium. (FREEMAN)
