Abella, Piscos dominate St. Ignatius footrace
CEBU, Philippines - Lizane Abella and Rafael Piscos emerged victorious in the seventh edition of the St.Ignatius Run yesterday morning at the SM City Cebu grounds.
Abella was declared the 21K women’s champion of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu batch 92-organized race after finishing in one hour, 27 minutes and 21 seconds followed by Ruffa Sorongon in 1:27:32. April Flynn took the third spot in 1:42:00.
Piscos topped the men’s side with the time of 1:13:00. Joseph Emia came in second with a 1:15:00 clocking followed by James Zafico in 1:22:00.
In the 12K class, Arnel Florentino bagged the men’s crown, while Cherry Andrin lorded it over in the women’s bracket.
Florentino registered a time of 42:43, while Michael Largo (42:44) and Earl Pionela (43:26) occupied the next two slots.
Andrin won the women’s action with her 55:04 followed by her sister Lovely (56:21) and Cherma Monsanto (58:14) in third place.
Prince Joey Lee (19:54) and Mary Joy Loberanis (25:05) were the fastest in the 6K category, while Harold Guiao (10:26) and Charisse Encarnacion (12:44) won the 3K titles.
Meanwhile, Ian Cabral (7:41), Moira Erediano (12:45) and Mark Perez (26:08) were the top finishers for the 1K, 3K, and 6K student category, respectively. (FREEMAN)
