Accenture shocks Convergys in E-Leagues

CEBU, Philippines – The Accenture Sharks put a dent on Convergys' grandslam bid after they upstaged the Converters,  59-51, in the Tanduay Athletics CCSC E-Leagues for Basketball Season 13 last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Junas Marion Misa topscored with 13 points on top of four assists, two steals and two rebounds for the Sharks, who rode on a sizzling second-quarter show to turn back the two-time defending champion.

Trailing 9-11 early on, the Sharks countered with a 21-13 blitz to seize control at halftime, 30-24. They then fought steadier in the homestretch to secure the eight-point victory.

Archie Batua, James Lester Navaja and Ryan Edward Llanos backed up Misa with 26 points in between them.

Brothers Franz Dionne and Kenneth Dysam conspired for 32 points, nine rebounds and four steals but their efforts went for naught as Convergys tasted its first loss.

In the other Elite Classic game, Franco Angelo Cipriano fired 18 points laced with six steals and five rebounds as the Lexmark Stallions galloped past the ePerformax Reds, 58-51, for their second staight victory.

Sylvester Millevo added 11 points and four rebounds for the Stallions, who were in full command after cruising to a 35-25 lead at the break.

Robert Gilo finished with 15 points and seven rebounds followed by Patrick Anthony Ybañez with 12 markers but they couldn't prevent the Reds from absorbing their second loss in a row.

In the Evo League, Stuart Foot scored 16 and Johnrey Girasol added 14 points, four rebounds and four steals as the QBE Generals shackled the Optum Knights, 64-43, for a rousing 2-0 start while the game between Streamline and Teletech is under review. — EBV (FREEMAN)
