Abarquez books another trip to finals in CitiGreen netfest
CEBU, Philippines - After advancing into the girls 18 final, Elizabeth Abarquez got another finals appearance in the 2nd CitiGreen Junior Tennis Cup yesterday at the Citigreen Tennis Resort in Barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City.
The Palarong Pambansa-bound Abarquez won her semifinals match against Noelle Marie Urgello, 6-2, 6-2 to claim the finals berth in the girls 16 class. Abarquez will face the winner of the semis duel between Kristin Rene Salimbangon and Ellaine Rose Bahunsua.
The boys 14 finals will be a showdown between Venz Alforque and Gabriel Andrei Trazo. Alforque dismissed Ashton Villanueva of Ozamis, 6-1, 6-2 while Trazo overpowered Jake Nelson Dakay, 6-1, 6-0 in the semis.
Chad Connor Cuizon and Marc Nicole Suson also got final tickets after winning their last assignments in their respective categories.
Cuizon upended Vincent Joseph Canete, 4-0, 4-2 to advance in the unisex 10-under final. He takes on the winner between Aaron Tabura and Douglas Maravillas.
Suson, for his part, won his semifinal match in the boys 16 over Marc Pradel, 6-2, 6-1 to face either Francis Hidalgo or Venz Alforque in the finals. — (FREEMAN)
