VECO union planned strike averted

-

CEBU, Philippines - The management of the Visayan Electric Cooperative and officers of the VECO Employees Union signed a Memorandum of Agreement last night, which averted a planned strike by the union.

In a statement to The Freeman, VECO Corporate Communications Manager Ethel Natera said the two parties signed the MOA before the National Conciliation and Mediation Board.

“VECO Management and the VECO Employees Union (VECEU-ALU) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement before the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB) today that addresses and resolves the issues that led to the strike vote. The signing of the MOA is a demonstration that both sides have chosen to prioritize the public’s interest, which it is sworn to protect,” the statement reads.

Trade Union Congress of the Philippines Party List Representative Raymund Mendoza also helped in the mediation efforts. - THE FREEMAN
