CEBU, Philippines — Four suspected drug pushers were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in the cities of Cebu, Talisay and Carcar, resulting in the seizure of over P600,000 worth of illegal drugs.

The suspects were identified as Daniel Sosmeña, 39; Rogelio Roxas, 33; Christian Caballero, 30; and Raquilino Lagaras, 60.

The operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7) recovered four medium packs of shabu worth P300,000 from Sosmeña, a sari-sari store owner, Thursday noon in Barangay Luz, Cebu City.

Roxas, on the other hand, was arrested Wednesday evening in Barangay Tejero, Cebu City for selling and possessing 50 grams of shabu worth P306,000.

PDEA -7 Spokesperson Leia Albiar said the suspects were placed under surveillance for two weeks after receiving reports of their involvement in illegal drugs.

Both Sosmeña and Roxas could allegedly dispose of at least 50 to 150 grams of shabu weekly.

In Barangay Bolinawan, Carcar City, local police arrested Lagaras, a newly-identified drug player, Wednesday afternoon.

Seized from him were 10 small packs of shabu worth P3,540.

Senior Superintendent Gregorio Galsim, Carcar City police chief, said Lagaras was a subject of police surveillance for quite some time.

In a separate operation in Barangay Jaclupan, Talisay City, authorities also arrested Caballero, who was reportedly caught repacking shabu inside a shanty. Seized from him were five small and one medium packs of shabu worth P2,400.

Police was supposed to respond to an alarm about illegal gambling in the said area when they accidentally sighted the suspect.

The shanty is located near the gambling site.

Police also confiscated one video karera and one moli-moli machines.

All drug suspects are currently detained at the respective police precincts pending the filing of appropriate charges against them for violating the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (FREEMANNEWS)
