Dengvaxia vaccinated kids: PHO to come up with masterlist

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Provincial Health Office (PHO) is working double time in order to come up with a masterlist of the children in the province who were given Dengvaxia vaccine.

PHO head Dr. Rene Catan said for their office to have a more comprehensive and cohesive approach to the problem, the first task is to come up with the list of names.

They should also have enough details like the date of vaccination and who among the kids have a history of dengue infection.

Catan admitted that they do not have an integrated reporting system yet.

DOH-7 had said that there were 159,355 children who were vaccinated.

He said they will come with a date base based on the list and their surveillance data. This will be shared to all government and private hospitals.

Catan will meet with district health officers and municipal health officers today and with the City Health Officers on Monday to discuss the matter.

Catan revealed that the DOH did not coordinate with the PHO when they implemented the vaccination program.

“That’s why, when people from DOH arrived to start the implementation of the program, I asked, ‘where were we in this whole discussion?” Catan said.

On the other hand, Catan said that those admitted in hospitals due to the vaccination should utilize full PhilHealth coverage. (FREEMAN)
