Woman killed by daughter’s lover
CEBU, Philippines — A 63-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her daughter's live-in partner in Barangay Palanas, Alcantara in southern Cebu on Sunday afternoon, after she allegedly opposed the relationship of her daughter and the suspect.
Manuela Villaces, a resident of Barangay Palanas, was found by her youngest son Florentino, lying in front of the door of her house bathed in her own blood.
Police Officer 3 Edward Sagon of Alcantara police said that Florentino saw the suspect identified as Arnel Nemeaga, 45, leaving his mother's house in a hurry and holding a stainless knife.
Alcantara police who responded found that the victim sustained two stab wounds, one to her nape and one to her left cheek, said Sagon.
He also added that Villaces and and Nemeaga had been having heated arguments for the past couple of months after she urged her daughter to leave him.
Allegedly, the victim does not like the suspect because he was maltreating her daughter.
The daughter did leave the Nemeaga, an act he blamed on Villaces.
The suspect immediately fled right after the incident. However, the police recovered a 16.5-inch stainless knife pinned to a banana tree outside the residence of the suspect in Barangay Poblacion, Ronda.
As of this writing, the police are still conducting hot pursuit operation against the suspect. (FREEMAN)
