Husband caught cheating shoots wife

CEBU, Philippines — A woman was shot by her husband after she caught him with his mistress in Barangay Don Virgilio Gonzales, Medellin on Friday evening.

Jocelyn Quijano, 44, a resident of Barangay Lamintak Sur, Medellin, was hit in the left chest and is still in recovery.

Investigation showed that the victim along with her young son arrived at the apartment in Barangay Virgilio Gonzales rented by the alleged mistress of her husband, Allan Quijano, 43.

Right after the door was opened, Jocelyn saw her husband wearing nothing but his underwear. Out of surprise, Allan got his .22 caliber firearm and shot the victim.

"Nakabantay nalang daw ni ang biktima nga nibanhod iyang dughan," said Police Officer 1 Rosano Queddeng of Medellin police.

The victim and her son immediately left the apartment and rushed to the hospital.

Medellin police who received the shooting alarm immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation against the suspect and found him still at the apartment of his alleged mistress.

Allan was arrested and a .22 caliber pistol loaded with live ammunition was recovered from his possession.

The suspect is now under the custody of Medellin police waiting for charges to be filed against him.

Queddeng said that they don't know yet if the wife will file a case against her husband, but added that Allan will be charged for violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. —/JBB (FREEMAN)
