Lapu-Lapu honors top taxpayers

CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City government has honored 26 companies in the city for their being the top taxpayers this year.

The recognition was done during the “Taxpayers Night 2017” hosted by the city government the other night.

For the second time in a row, Shangri-La Resort and Spa was conferred the Datu Lapu-Lapu Award.

The resort has been consistently the top taxpayer of the city in the last 10 years. The top taxpayers are Advent Energy, Inc.; LEAR Automotive (EEDS) Phils. Inc.; Taiyo Yuden (Phils.) Corp.;JPark Island Resort and Waterpark Cebu; General Milling Corporation;Filinvest Group of Companies/ Filinvest Land, Inc.;Muramoto Audio-Visual Phils. Inc.; Fairchild Semiconductor (Phils.);Hongkong, Oikonomos Int'l Resources Corporation (Movenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu); Super Metro Gaisano -Lapu-Lapu, Taipan Development Inc. (Gaisano Island Mactan Mall); J.S. Unitrade Merchandise Inc.; Plantation Bay Holdings Corporation/ Plantation Bay Resort and Spa; Far East Noble House Inc. (Gaisano Grand Mall Mactan); GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corp; Freemont Food Corp. – Jollibee;Megaworld Corporation; Waterfront Airport Hotel & Casino Inc.; DrakaPhils. Inc; Timex Philippines, Inc.; NKC Mfg. Philippines Corp.; Pueblo de Oro Devt. Corporation; Robinsons Land Corporation; Cesar's Foodland  Inc.; and Prohomes Development Inc.

Mayor Paz Radazasaid the Taxpayers’ Night is the city’s way of expressing its sincerest appreciation for their great contribution.

"We want to recognize and honor all of you who are the prime movers of our beloved City.For without you, our city will not be what it is today," Radaza said.

The mayor said the taxpayers’ contributions have come a long way because through their taxes the city was able to effectively deliver the services needed by the people.

"Thank you for your continued trust and confidence to my administration. We will work harder to serve our people more," Radaza said.

The event was also attended by two of the most popular singers in the country, Yeng Constantino and KZ Tandingan. —/FPL (FREEMAN)
