Dismissal awaits fireman caught with guns, drugs

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The regional director of the Bureau of Fire Protection in Central Visayas vowed that the fire officer caught during a police raid for unlicensed guns and illegal drugs in Danao City will be dismissed from the service.

Senior Superintendent Samuel Tadeo said he will not tolerate the illegal activities of Senior Fire Officer 1 Roel Deiparine.

Deiparine was arrested Sunday by the operatives of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-7 in Sitio Langlang, Barangay Cogon Cruz, Danao City for illegal possession of firearms and illegal drugs.

The police seized from his possession one caliber .45 pistol, one caliber .38 revolver and two packs of shabu. The operation stemmed from a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 25 Judge Jerry Dicdican. Deiparine, however, denied the accusations against him.

Tadeo said they received no reports derogatory information against Deiparine prior to his arrest.

Tadeo said that Deiparine’s case should serve as lesson for other BFP personnel not to get involved in illegal activities.

“Yun po ang kabilinbilinan ko po sa mga tauhan ko naiwasan ang mga illegal na activities nayan kasi talagang malaking mantsa po talaga sa BFP ang nangyari na yan pero rest assured di po namin e-tolerate, bibigyan po namin nang aksyon yan,” Tadeo said.

Tadeo said a random drug test will be conducted among BFP personnel to determine who among them are using illegal drugs.

“Oo, nagkakaroon kami ng random drug test. Last for this year is noong February, pero dahil sa mga ganitong insidente malamang may mangyayaring surprise pa,”Tadeo added.

Tadeo admitted that during the last drug testing there were officers who tested positive of illegal drug use. (FREEMAN)
