Senior citizens to get cash aid today
CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City government will release the fourth tranche of the cash assistance worth P1,000 to 67,300 registered senior citizens today.
The distribution will be held from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. at designated venues where barangays usually distribute the financial aid such as in barangay halls, sports complexes, and public schools.
This is part of the P12,000 each senior receives from the city government for the entire year as mandated in City Ordinance No. 2453 known as "The Annual Financial Assistance to All Qualified Senior Citizens of Cebu City Ordinance."
Office of Seniors Citizens Affairs (OSCA) executive assistant Lourdes Limpangog said seniors are given 10 days to claim their financial assistance at the treasurer’s office.
The money will be forfeited if unclaimed within the allotted period.
Limpangog, however, clarified that the beneficiaries can still claim the cash aid in the next distributions as long as they are not identified by the treasurer’s office as inactive or those who failed to claim three consecutive times.
Those who are marked as inactive can still reactivate their status at their office at the City Hall, she added. — Frazene Dolly E. Alterado (FREEMAN)
