Two jail guards face dismissal

Rowena D. Capistrano - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology has recommended the dismissal of two jail guards in Central Visayas in line with the government's campaign against illegal drugs.

Jail Senior Insp. Medardo Dungog told The Freeman that one of the jail guards tested positive for drug use while the other refused to undergo a drug test.

"Niadtong nilabay nga semana, gipadala na namo ang rekomendasyon batok sa duha ka mga empleyado sa BJMP ngadto sa kaulohan, diin usa niini ang nagpositibo sa drug test ug usa ang nagdumili pagpaubos sa drug test, samtang dunay lain nga empleyado ang ni 'absence without leave' sa iyang trabaho," Dungog said.

Dungog said the BJMP national office has the final regarding the recommendation.

He said BJMP is serious in its campaign against illegal drug use among its ranks in response to a standing order from no less than President Rodrigo Duterte.

"Dugay naman ta naghimo paghingusog sa atong kampanya batuk sa illegal nga drugas kay naa man ta mga drug test para sa tanang mga kawani," Dungog said.

He added that BJMP will investigate reports that concern its personnel even if these are anonymous.

"Bisan unsa kagamay sa reklamo o duna tay madawat nga anonymous letter, ato gayud buhatan og imbestigasyon aron atong masuta kung unsay estado sa tawo nga gireklamo," he said. (FREEMAN)
