Augment security force pulled out from CPDRC

CEBU, Philippines - The Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC), who has been assigned to augment the security at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC), has been pulled out from the provincial jail yesterday.

Doctor Gil Macato, acting warden of CPDRC said it was the mandate of Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III to remove PPSC from the jail facility after four months of augmentation.

"Actually gi-pull out na sila kay siguro tan-aw ni Governor nga ang bag-ong administration can handle the facility." Macato said.

The 20 members of the PPCS headed by Senior Inspector Zosimo Jabas were temporarily assigned at the provincial jail for four months after the Capitol asked the Cebu Provincial Police for additional security for the penitentiary due to several controversies the jail has been involved in.

Macato said the management of CPDRC will continue its strict implementation of its new policies to ensure that there will be no contraband inside the jail facility.

The acting warden said he already mandated the prison guards and personnel inside the CPDRC to ensure that there will be no controversies involving the jail facility as happened in the past.

"Sa karon I can assure you nga gipangusgan gyud na namo nga wala gyud mga kontrabando even kanang mga kwarta karon, gidili na na karon. Gidili na namo pagpasulod, mga lutoanan nga electric, daghan na mi na-confiscate ana," Macato said adding it is mandated on the jail manual.

Mandato also said that these are all mandated in the jail manual.

"Ang mga kwarta dili gyud na dapat pasudlon sa sulod kay diha magsugod gyud na ang mga tinonto sa sulod. Kun naa'y kwarta naa gyud na'y negosyo nga mahitabo. Ang mga electric nga luto-anan bawal pud na kay naa gud na sila'y rasyon,  naa'y common nga luto-anan," he added.

CPPO Director Eric Noble said the governor had called him to inform him earlier this week to inform him of the latter's plan to pull out the PPSC.

Noble added that the PPSC will be assigned as additional personnel for their Oplan Tokhang.

"Kasi kailangan namin ng tao ngayon. Noong sinabihan ako ng mga tao ko na kaya naman na daw muna ng CPDRC, sabi ko mas maganda, natuwa ako kasi  kailangan ko ng mga taong pangtoktok ngayon. Anyway may alert pa rin. Standby. Anytime pwede sila doon (CPDRC)," Noble said.  (FREEMAN)
