Mandaue okays P224.5M AIP

CEBU, Philippines - The Mandaue City Development Council has approved over P200 million annual investment plan for 2017.

Mandaue City Mayor Gabriel Luigi Quisumbing said the AIP is a list of projects needed in the preparation of the annual budget.

Quisumbing said the P224.5 million AIP will be discussed by the members of the finance committee before finalizing the budget proposal for deliberation by the City Council. The projects listed in the AIP will be funded from the 20 percent development fund of the city’s share in the Internal Revenue Allotment amounting to P140,695,309.60.

The development fund will be spend on health care services program, social welfare services and development projects, water facility projects, local economic development project for agriculture, barangay development projects, concreting of barangay roads and municipal streets, construction of new public markets, among others.

Under the 2017 AIP, P109 million will be used for road opening, drainage and concreting of various roads while P22.1 million will be used to purchase lot for relocation of fire victims and informal settlers. 

The CDC has also earmarked P5 million for transportation study. The council likewise approved P83.832 million for local disaster risk reduction and management council. The proposed LDRRMC budget, however, is still subject to the approval of the City Council.

Out of the LDRRMC fund, P43 million was allocated for the procurement of firefighting and rescue equipment, mini fire truck for 27 barangays, troop carrier and personnel dispatch vehicle, wave runner and mobile kitchen. 

An amount of P15 million was earmarked for financial assistance to victims of calamities. (FREEMAN)
