No bail for man with P11.8M shabu

Mylen P. Manto - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Prosecutors recommended no bail against a man arrested for selling shabu and who was in possession of the substance worth at least P11.8 million during his arrest last February 3.

Prosecutor II Ramon Carisma held Regie Palotes alias “Osting”, 35, of Gil Tudtud St., Mabolo, Cebu City, for trial after finding probable cause to elevate the charges against him in court.

During an inquest proceeding, Palotes chose not to undergo preliminary investigation and to answer the allegations straight in court.

PO3 Armando Ponce, Jr. said they hatched the operation against Palotes in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–7.

“I as the designated poseur-buyer together with my teammates went to the area as reported and described by our informant,” he said.

They reportedly arrived at the area around 6:40 p.m. and arrested Palotes just as he sold the shabu to Ponce.

Police recovered the P700 marked money and shabu weighing 996.40 grams from Palotes.

Ponce’s statements were corroborated by his teammates.   (FREEMAN)
