2 others among top 10: Cebu grad tops PT exam

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A graduate from the Southwestern University topped the 2016 Physical Therapist Licensure Examination while two other Cebu school graduates made it to the Top 10.

Anthony Acenas took the first place with an average of 89.35 percent.  Nico Hordista from Cebu Doctors’ University landed on the third spot with 86.05 percent while Nancy Karen Sabandal, also from SWU, ranked fourth with 86 percent.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced yesterday that of the 912 examinees, 521 passed the Physical Therapist Licensure Examination while 55 out of 102 examinees passed the Occupational Therapist Licensure Examination.

The results were released two working days from the last day of the examinations. The exams were administered by the Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy in the cities of Manila and Cebu this month.

Sabandal

Seventh of ten siblings, Sabandal from Bato, Leyte expressed joy over the results, saying she did not expect to be included in the top 10.

“Makapasar lang ko sa exams, maayo na kayo,” she said.

She added that the exam was very difficult, especially if one did not study enough.

“Maong ako nagtuo nga 90 porsyento g’yud akong pagtuo ni Kristo ug 10 porsyento ang akong pagtuon, mao’y rason sa akong pagkapasar,” she further said.

Sabandal is the daughter of Norberto Sabandal, a civil engineer, and Gloria Sabandal, a registered nurse.

She graduated salutatorian in elementary and was part of the honor roll in high school. In college, she said, she failed to get the title Cum Laude because her grade lacked .01.

Sabandal urged her fellow youth to never stop until they achieve their dreams.

“Dili g’yud mohunong sa pagpangandoy hangtod nga kini makab-ot ug dili kalimtan ang Ginoo nga maoy himoong sentro sa kinabuhi,” she said.

The topnotcher said if given a chance, she wants to work abroad.  —  (FREEMAN)
