1,000 marijuana stalks uprooted in Balamban
CEBU, Philippines - The second major operation carried out by the Balamban Police, after Governor Gwendolyn Garcia declared an all-out war against illegal drugs in the province, rendered over a thousand fully grown and newly planted stalks of marijuana.
With the help of residents and tanods, the authorities uprooted 1,054 marijuana stalks in the mountain barangay of Bayong in Balamban the other day.
Senior Insp. Resty Santos, chief of the Balamban Police Station, led his men in the uprooting of the said marijuana stalks last Saturday afternoon.
However, nobody was arrested during the operation. Police officers only recovered a pail and a plastic container with used fertilizer.
Operation was conducted after the Balamban Police received reports of another thriving marijuana plantation in Bayong.
The marijuana stalks were submitted to the Crime Laboratory of the Philippine National Police for examination.
