Clint Normandia: The Art of the Human Body
CEBU, Philippines - The Art of the Human Body, a collection of works by Clint Normandia, stands out in illustrating how an amalgam of classic representational views with modern abstraction is possible.
Presented by the Portrait Artists Society of the Philippines and the Cebu Academy of Arts, the exhibition celebrated its opening last May 1, showcasing 10 works which says a lot about the dynamism that is inherent in classic representational styles.
Keen on his utilization of space and fine control of the brush, Normandia gives significant dimension to the chiaroscuro technique in the Art of the Human Body, juxtapositioning his compositions with distinct and sleek lines – elements which points to Normandia’s contemporary sights.
Going beyond traditional thematic concepts, Normandia also gives a playful zing to his masterfully painted subjects, adding aesthetic elements such as body tattoos which complements with the natural beauty of the human body.
Masterful in its overall execution and detailed in capturing beauty, the collected pieces featured in the Art of the Human Body goes beyond the standards of traditional aesthetic norms, driven by an artistic boldness that can only be found in artists of Normandia’s caliber.
The Art of the Human Body will be on exhibit until May 15, 2013, in the Cebu Academy of Arts, located along Gen. Echaves St, Cebu City. (FREEMAN)
