Jerome Ponce, one of the lead stars of ABS-CBN’s “The Good Son,” admits his current girlfriend, Mika Reyes, is a good influence on him. He says Mika plays a big part in his maturity and in the changes that happened in his life.

“I guess, when it comes to maturity, it really comes naturally. Many things have happened to me and it made me realize many facts about life. There were things that happened which taught me valuable lessons,” says the 22-year-old Kapamilya actor.

“Things do happen for a reason. Maybe at first, you won’t immediately understand the lesson that a certain incident taught you. But eventually, you will get to know it somehow. Said lesson may not bring some good things back but it might be an instrument to make things okay or mend a bridge that had been burned.”

Jerome describes her as a very nice person and is the one who pushes and motivates him in a positive way. Mika may not know anything about showbiz but on a personal level, she is able to guide Jerome in the right direction.

But despite the positive things happening in his life now, Jerome still dreams of leaving the Philippines and try his luck abroad.

“I still have that dream but I don’t want to turn my back on the good opportunities coming my way with regards to my career. But if ever I see that showbiz is doing me no good or I am not getting good breaks, I would probably give serious thought to finding my luck elsewhere in the world,” he says.

He is thankful that Dreamscape Television picked him to play an important role in “The Good Son” where he gets to showcase his acting talent. He considers it a big break to get the chance to work with the likes of Albert Martinez, Eula Valdez, Mylene Dizon, John Estrada and Liza Lorena.

He also feels privileged to be chosen as one of the four sons together with Joshua Garcia, Nash Aguas and McCoy de Leon.

Jerome was also asked how he felt that his “The Good Son” co-star Joshua Garcia beat him to the draw in winning an acting award.

“Just like what Joshua said, there are some things that are meant to be yours. That award was meant for him. The role that I got in ‘The Good Son’ is meant for me and it’s up to me to prove my worth as an actor. I would have to justify if I deserve to get the role and that is by giving a good performance,” says Jerome.

To be fair, Jerome’s acting also got good feedback from the press who watched the preview of “The Good Son.” It premieres Monday, September 25 on ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida.
