How does Marian fare as talk show host?

- Ricky L. Calderon - The Freeman

“Yan Ang Morning!,” the newest talk show hosted by Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera-Dantes premiered on Monday at 10:45 a.m. Marian revealed that her latest project is the  perfect venue to share her personal experiences on being a new mom and homemaker, and at the same time become an inspiration to achieve a healthy work-life balance.

“Now that I am a mom, I have proven that I can learn many things as long as you like and love what you are doing. I realized that having a talk show is a good venue to share my insights as a new mother who is trying to have a work-life balance in this time. We will all learn many things, especially for new mothers like me,” said Marian at the presscon of “Yan ang Morning!” held last week.

Aside from cooking simple dishes as one of their segments, Marian said many young mothers will be able to relate to the topics they are going to discuss in the show. They also invited the mother of Dingdong Dantes so they can share the recipe of her hubby’s favorite food.

Marian was the first to admit that hosting is not her forte. “But I’ve always said in my interviews that there is no harm in trying to do things you are not familiar with. As a mother, I am able to discover many things that I can apply in hosting. If you notice, our tagline is ‘Kung kaya ni Yan, kaya ninyo rin.’ I am not the only one who is able to impart knowledge to our audience. I also learn from our invited guests in the studio. I talk to our guests and also learn from them. I get to meet different kinds of people and I really learn a lot from them. It feels good,” said Marian, who is also part of the variety show “Sunday Pinasaya.”

When she was asked how she maintains her good looks after giving birth, Marian blurted out, “Pag nanganak ba pumapangit? I don’t know.

Her busy schedule doesn’t allow her to watch other talk shows and Marian added that most of her free time is spent taking care of her first born Letizia. What excites her is that she gets the chance to bond with her husband Dingdong and she gets to discuss with him her script for “Yan ang Morning!”

“There was one time our topic was disciplining a child and I asked Dong kung okay ba sa kanya na papaluin ang anak as a form of discipline? Are we going to do it?” she shared.

“What I like about Dong is that he is very supportive. Ang masasabi ko nagiging blooming ang isang babae kapag sinusuportahan ka talaga ng partner mo. Wala siyang reklamo. At ang galing niya pa. Inaamin ko na mahirap gawin ang mga bagay na hindi ka pamilyar. If I tried something, matutunan ko rin eventually,” she said.

For his part, “Yan ang Morning!” director Louie Ignacio says that doing the morning show is the most challenging for him and Marian.

“Yan has improved as an artist. We know her as the primetime queen but she works hard and she really prepares well for the show. We invite the audience in the show and they asked tough questions. And Marian is able to answer them, no rehearsal, on the spot. So I can really say she can be a good host. After we taped our first week, I told Marian we can go live. Pero ayaw pa niya. Pero kaya niya. She knows her show. She knows her audience and I am happy that I am working again with her,” said Direk Louie, who hosted the first season of Marian’s defunct dance show.

“Yan Ang Morning!” allows viewers as well as the studio audience to participate and be involved in everything that Marian does in the program. In the show, she has a cooking segment dubbed as “Luto ni Yan” where she demonstrates how to create simple and affordable recipes. She will also create fun and easy DIY projects and activities and try the latest workouts and fitness trends.

Joining Marian as her co-host is Kapuso comedian and one of her real-life BFF’s Boobay. With her natural flair for comedy, every episode promises to be more fun and entertaining as he engages in banter with the audience and guests.
