CEBU, Philippines - US comedy shows topped the downloads among Filipinos on iFLIX, a leading Internet TV service in Southeast Asia.

This was according to iFLIX Philippines head Sherwin dela Cruz, who cited the TV sitcoms “Friends,” “How I Met Your Mother,” “Two Broke Girls” and “The Big Bang Theory” as favorites among the Philippines’ 1.3 million subscribers. The latter sitcom, starring Kaley Cuoco, Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki, happens to be exclusive in their library and the most expensive show iFLIX has purchased.

After comedies, Dela Cruz said the second most downloaded by Filipinos are superhero series such as “Flash,” “Arrow” and “Gotham.”

Launched in Cebu last week but already made available in the country beginning last year, iFLIX offers subscribers unlimited access to tens of thousands of hours of quality Hollywood, Asian and Filipino content. Consumers can sign up for a 30-day trial with full access to all of iFLIX’s content without having to submit credit card or payment details.

iFLIX offers TV shows and movies from over 60 of the world’s most highly acclaimed international, regional and local studios and distributors, including first run, exclusives series, such as multi-award winning shows “Robot” and “Fargo,” as well as many other popular titles including “The Muppets,” “Aquarius,” “Black Sails” and more.

Also included in its vast library are fan favorite Korean dramas and variety shows, such as “Boys Over Flowers,” “Moon Embracing the Sun,” “The Inheritors,” “Running Man” and more; hundreds of multi-award winning movies and cult classics such as “Pulp Fiction,” “Chicago,”

“Forrest Gump,” “The English Patient,” “The Godfather” and more; every season of iconic series such as “Lost,” “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air,” “Mad Men,” “Sons of Anarchy,” “Dexter” and more.

An extensive selection of Filipino content is also available at subscribers’ fingertips as iFLIX partnered with ABS-CBN, GMA and TV5 to add thousands of hours of classic TV shows and hit movies such as “One More Chance,” “Maging Sino Ka Man,” “On the Job,” “My Husband’s Lover,” “Encantadia,” “The Rich Man’s Daughter,” “Wattpad: Unwanted Girlfriend” and “Replacement Bride.”

Pinoy indies aren’t left behind as these are also part of the iFLIX library such as “Ang Kwento ni Mabuti,” “Ang Huling Cha Cha ni Anita,”  “Dagitab,” “Thy Womb,” and “Kinatay” to name a few.

Parents not need worry on content that feature violence or nudity, since iFLIX features a kids-mode defense that provides parental control on the site.

Users can access the iFLIX service on up to five devices, including phones, laptops, tablets, and TV sets, for viewing wherever, whenever. Subscribers can also download TV shows and movies for offline viewing. The service is priced at P129 per month.

“iFLIX will radically change the local entertainment landscape,” says Dela Cruz. “We have committed to bringing the best in local, regional and international entertainment to as many devices and homes as possible. We’re incredibly excited to share thousands of hours of premium content at an extremely affordable price for all Filipinos to enjoy. I can’t wait for everyone to press play.”

Pinoy celebrities apparently believe that iFLIX is the future of accessing entertainment as the likes of Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Ruffa Gutierrez, Richard Gutierrez, Raymond Gutierrez, Karylle and Iza Calzado have invested money on the company. — (FREEMAN)
