CEBU, Philippines — Homegrown salon chain Salon de Rose, Inc. diversifies into retailing with the introduction of its own SDR Essential beauty line.

"We are innovating the Salon De Rose brand, as we take pride as homegrown Cebuano heritage," said the company's sales and marketing head Prime Asprer in an interview.

Asprer said that while the company is currently mapping out plans to open more branches throughout the country, works on the impending launch of SDR Essentials are likewise ongoing.

SDR Essentials will initially start offering its own hair care line such as shampoo, conditioner, and hair wax, among others.

Asprer added that with the expertise of Salon de Rose’s sister company Roz Laboratories, they can easily formulate top quality beauty essentials that will be at par with existing and established brands. The SDR Essentials will be launched before the end of this year.

Once launched, the SDR Essential products will primarily be made available only in Salon de Rose outlets. It will soon be distributed to other retail shops starting off in all outlets of Rose Pharmacy across the country.

In 2018 the company will set up its own brand of Barber Shop chain as well as stand-alone Nail Salon.

The 43-year-old beauty salon now has a total of 28 branches, 16 of which are in Cebu, others are located in Davao, Cagayan de Oro City, and Luzon.

All its branches are company owned and managed, although it is also entertaining possibilities to open the brand for franchise opportunity.

Salon De Rose salons will also open new branches in Dumaguete,  Zamboanga and Tacloban in the next few months.

Recently, the company inked a special partnership deal with the posh American nail and gel polish brand Morgan Taylor to expand its world-class brand choices.

Founded by Rosario B. Lim in 1974 following the success of Rose Pharmacy, which was established in Cebu City in 1952, the salon chain is now managed by the third generation of the Lim family. (FREEMAN)
