BPO firm to open facility in Mactan, to employ 500

CEBU, Philippines - US-based business process outsourcing (BPO) company Concentrix Philippines will soon open a facility at the Mactan Newtown in Lapu-Lapu City, with a target of hiring around 450 to 500 people.

Concentrix Philippines, which targets to open its first office outside of Manila by the second half of this year, is the fourth BPO locator at the Meagworld Corporation’s township development project.

The 30-hectare Mactan Newtown currently plays host to three BPO companies including The Results Companies, Infra USA, and Manulife.

In a press conference yesterday at the Movenpick Resort and Spa in Lapu-Lapu City, Concentrix Philippines country leader David Brooks announced that the company will occupy around 2,600 square meters office space or the entire second floor of Tower 3 of 8 Newtown Boulevard.

Brooks said that Cebu is the company's best option for its Philippine expansion, as it has the capabilities to meet the company's manpower and even infrastructure requirements.

"Many of our clients are asking about Cebu," Brooks said.

Concentrix is a business services company founded in 1991. A wholly owned subsidiary of American conglomerate Synnex Corporation.

The company entered the Philippine outsourcing company in 2007 in Manila. Now it has over 20 thousand employees in its three offices in Metro Manila.

The Philippines is now the second largest outsourcing destination of the company, next to India.

Brooks said the Philippines is gaining ground especially in terms of clients’ preference due to English fluency and customer service driven disposition of Filipinos.
