3 British men nabbed over scam

Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines -  Three British men and 35 Filipinos were arrested for alleged involvement in an investment scam.

Andrew Robson, Graham Allan Bennet and Dominic Whellams, consultant, trainor and IT expert, respectively, of PLUSTEL Solutions Inc., were collared after a raid on their office in Barangay Maduya in Carmona, Cavite on Tuesday.

The raid was based on a search warrant issued by Sta. Cruz Judge Cynthia Marino-Ricablanca. The Securities and Exchange Commission confirmed that PLUSTEL is not authorized to offer or sell securities.

Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation said the Filipinos were caught in the act of selling securities. At least  172 others working as data miners, qualifiers and verifiers were brought to the NBI office in Manila for investigation and verification.

NBI spokesman Ferdinand Lavin said they received information that the suspects were selling fake bonds, securities and debentures to investors in the engineering, oil, gas and manufacturing industries.
