4 terrorists infiltrate Myanmar before ASEAN summit

YANGON (Xinhua) - Four terrorists have infiltrated into Myanmar to carry out destructive acts ahead of upcoming ASEAN Summits slated for next week, local daily the 7-Day quoted Mon state police force as reporting Sunday.

Getting information about the infiltration, the terrorist' photos and their personal data are put up in public areas of Mawlamyine, the capital of southeastern  Mon state, as wanted persons.

The terrorists are described as members from the "Rohingya Solidarity Organization" (RSO) with Than Win as its leader, while others included members of the Islamic State (IS).

They were reported to have entered Myanmar from western Rakhine state and target bomb attacks on Nay Pyi Taw and  Yangon during the upcoming ASEAN Summit and East Asia Summit, the police said, adding that security has been heightened in the two major cities.

The police has threatened to conduct household checks these days to ensure security.

The 25th ASEAN Summit and  East Asia Summit are due to take place on next Wednesday-Thursday in Nay Pyi Taw and other related activities in Yangon.

The government has deployed  20,000-strong police force to guard the summit and security is also being unprecedentedly tightened at all entrances into the country including airports, seaports, highway terminals and checkpoints.

The police have notified people to carry identity cards or effective travel documents when traveling during the period, saying that passengers on highway buses will be thoroughly checked.
