Massive fire breaks out in Dubai industrial zone

DUBAI -- A massive fire broke out shortly before Sunday noon in Dubai's industrial area near shopping center of the Mall of the Emirates.

Thick black smoke was seen rising from an area with the size of a football field adjacent to a branch of the Dubai roads and transport authority RTA.

The Mall of the Emirates, located opposite the road of the RTA branch, was not affected.

Dubai Police has cordoned off the area, while fire brigades and ambulances rushed to the scene.

No immediate details on casualties were reported and the cause of the fire remains unknown.
