Stevenson captures WBC title

OTTAWA (Xinhua) - Canadian Adonis Stevenson beat Chad Dawson to grab World Boxing Council light heavyweight title on Saturday in Montreal.

Stevenson made the successful challenge with a technical knock-out when he threw a left-handed punch at 1:16 of the first round and Dawson was stopped to play with a glazed eye.

Stevenson, 35, improved to 21-1 with 19 wins inside the distance while Dawson fell to 31-3.
