Singapore police arrest boy, 13, over bomb threat

The Philippine Star

SINGAPORE (AP) — Singapore police have arrested a 13-year-old boy for making an online threat to bomb a major resort.

The police said Tuesday that the case comes under the Breach of Prohibition Against False Threats of Terrorist Acts.

According to a post on Facebook, which has since been taken down, the boy said when he leaves Singapore he was going to take revenge and "plant bombs on Marina Bay Sands."

A spokesman for Marina Bay Sands said that it had made a police report.

The case comes after several online incidents involving offensive messages. In October, an employee of the country's main union was fired after posting a Facebook comment criticizing local Malays, while a Chinese scholar studying at a Singapore university was punished for calling Singaporeans "dogs" on his Weibo account.
