- Cris Cayanan, Dennis Carcamo -

MANILA, Philippines -- Today's 10.10.10 Run for Pasig River has generated around 116,086 participants, according to the official statement of the Kapit-Bisig Para sa Ilog Pasig (KBPIP), the event organizer.

"The 10.10.10 Pasig River Run number as authenticated by SGV broke the Philippine records and could make the event the world's biggest advocacy run." the statement read.

Gina Lopez, KBPIP project director and Managing Director of the ABS-CBN Foundation, earlier hoped that the number of participants would make it to the Guinness Book of World Records as the most number of participants in a footrace.

The current record stands at 110,000 runners, which has been held for 22 years by San Francisco’s 1988 “Bay to Breakers” race.
