6 fugitives nabbed in 2-day operation

CEBU, Philippines —  At least six fugitives including those in top most wanted list were arrested by the members of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB)-7 in their two-day service of warrants of arrest operation.

First arrested on Saturday, January 22, was a 46-years-old construction worker in Cantil-e, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental for violation of Republic Act 7610.

The accused is identified as Loreto Plomenes whose name is also listed as the top 3 most wanted person.

On the same day, the same unit arrested another wanted person in Sitio Bonbon, Barangay Hinakpan, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.

They arrested a certain Gery Jose Recabo, 51, a resident of the same place where he was arrested for the case of attempted homicide.

Still on Saturday, the RMFB-7 along with the other units have arrested the top 1 of the most wanted person list in Barangay 3, Siaton, Negros Oriental.

Police served the warrant of arrest against a certain Dioscoro Macalipay Palongo, 59, a construction worker who is also facing the charge of statutory rape.

The same unit also served a warrant of arrest against a certain Jason Radone, 22, who is also facing the charge of rape.

Radone, whose name ranked as eighth in the most wanted person list, was arrested in Barangay Maloh, Siaton, Negros Oriental.

On Sunday, January 23, the RMFB-7 along with the other units also arrested an alleged member of the New People's Army (NPA) who is facing murder charges.

The operation was conducted in Sitio Kapudlusan, Barangay Banwague, Guihulngan City that resulted in the arrest of a certain Dieto Ferolino Sardañas, an alleged member of the NPA terrorist squad.

He was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Eric Anthony Ateniao Dumpilo of Guihulngan City on November 4, 2021.

Another former member of the NPA terrorist squad was also arrested by the RMFB-7 for murder charges.

A certain Peligio Eustaquio, 53, was arrested in Brgy. Laawan 2, Talisay City, Cebu by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Mario Trinidad in Guihulngan City.

His name was labeled fifth most wanted in the Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 list.

Gun Ban violators

Meanwhile, the police have already arrested 13 violators of the election gun ban in different areas of Cebu Province since its implementation on January 9, 2022 until present.

Police Lt. Colonel Mark Gifter Sucalit, deputy director for operations of the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO), said that at least 10 firearms and three other bladed weapons were seized from these arrested suspects.

Among the 13 arrested suspects, two of whom were intercepted through the checkpoints in Danao City while the rest were arrested through police operations such as buy-bust in different cities and municipalities of Cebu Province.

"With the help sa media, nasayod ta nga ginasibya, dako og tabang and sa mga ginapang conduct nato nga checkpoints duna man nay mga signages kung gabie ba...so aware sila, of course naay feedback sa mga walay planong magbuhat og dautan nga dili ilegalista, nindto man ilang feedback because they feel safe," said Sucalit.

Sucalit also said that those seized firearms will also be subjected to cross-matching examinations to find out possibilities if these firearms were used for criminal activities. — GMR (FREEMAN)
