Acknowledging the huge disparity of the amount between the cash bonus for regular and casual employees and that of the JOs, Rama said he will give additional P3,000 each to the over 5,000 JOs of the city government making their total Christmas bonus to P6,000.

CEBU, Philippines — For job order employees at Cebu City Hall who are facing uncertainty of getting their jobs renewed next year, an announcement from Mayor Michael Rama to increase their Christmas bonus may be enough to heave a sigh of relief.

Acknowledging the huge disparity of the amount between the cash bonus for regular and casual employees and that of the JOs, Rama said he will give additional P3,000 each to the over 5,000 JOs of the city government making their total Christmas bonus to P6,000.

Earlier, Rama announced to give all regular and casual employees of City Hall P20,000 each as Christmas bonus.

Rama asked the members of the City Council to consider allocating the additional amount for the job order workers. On top of the cash bonus, they will also receive one sack of rice.

“Naay uban that have been left out… Edu (Councilor Rama, his nephew and the chairman on social services), Dondon (Hontiveros) let us make our employees happy…That is my mission…kung happy mo, happy ko,” said Rama.

The mayor, however, reminded all the employees of the condition to receive the Christmas bonus—all employees must be vaccinated.

He reminded the remaining 1,500 unvaccinated employees of City Hall that the Christmas bonus will not be released if not “everyone” is vaccinated.

Unvaccinated City Hall employees are also not allowed to join the Christmas party scheduled late next week. — FPL (FREEMAN)
