Wedding “scammer” tries to kill self

CEBU, Philippines — A wedding coordinator who allegedly scammed a newly-wed couple on their big day was rushed to the hospital after he reportedly attempted to kill himself on Thursday, September 23, 2021.

The Consolacion Police Station personnel confirmed that at around 11 a.m., they received a report from the barangay officials of Casili that a certain Nacer Fuentes has attempted to commit suicide inside his rented room.

However, Fuentes reportedly signed a waiver declaring that he refused to be admitted in the hospital.

A neighbor has confirmed in an interview with a local radio station that at around 10 a.m., Fuentes was found slitting his wrist inside his rented room.

According to her, they were aware that Fuentes went trending on social media after having been tagged as the person who scammed a couple of their wedding reception in Minglanilla town.

“Mao ra ni akong nabaw-an..kaganina akong nahibaw-an naay taga media nya siya naa ra sa sud, nya taud-taud moanha ta ang taga media, wa molahos kay wala kunoy complainant, taud-taud naa naman niingon nga naa na kuno sya sa sulod nag-suicide, nag-laslas,” she said.

When the neighbor agreed to call for a response team, she went to Fuente’s room.

“Ako siyang gigakos, ako siyang gialam-alaman na ayaw kawal-an sa paglaum, mao iyang gibuhi-an ang blade, di pa ga sya magpadala (to hospital) nya ga-bleeding naman iyang kamot,” she added.

Fuentes was living in his rented room alone for less than a year now.

The neighbor also said that Fuentes was observed to have been busy and was always out. He also doesn’t have a relative in the area where he was living.

Fuentes who was just released from the hospital, refused to comment to the media further and just said that he will be settling the matter with the couple.

The Consolacion police also said they haven’t received any complaint filed against Fuentes in their station.

In a Facebook post of a certain Tonskie Elsisura, photographer of the said wedding, Fuentes has made an appearance during the actual wedding.

He added, the couple said they were able to pay full for the wedding reception.

“Then by lunch time nilakaw na si Naser and dili na makontak, but we assumed maybe busy ug decor sa venue. So after sa church which is sa Minglanila pa, proceed mi sa venue sa kiaras catering and events sa may Labangon area,” he narrated on his now viral Facebook post.

“Oh pag-abot namo didto close jud ang venue! Walay handa, wala tanan! According sa management wala daw na-book na event that day.. pati kami mga suppliers scam sad wala mabayri,” the post further read. — GMR (FREEMAN)
