St. Jude rules Sto. Niño hoopla
CEBU, Philippines — The St. Jude cagers kept their offensive guns ablaze all throughout the 40-minute duel to outlast Tangkungan, 78-70, and clinch the championship of the Sto. Niño Cup 2018 basketball tournament at the Apad Gym in Barangay Sambag I, Cebu City.
Orly Alvarado sparkled with 25 points, while Warren Labay chipped in 18 markers for St. Jude of team manager Jeson L. Guardo, which was in full command of the match since enjoying a 30-22 advantage at halftime.
The Jay-R Tallo-mentored St. Jude sustained its momentum to blow up its led to as high as 18 points in the third period.
Tangkungan staged a daring fightback in the closing minutes of the contest but St. Jude fought with grace under pressure to preserve a rousing eight-point victory.
Ramesh Mulchandani also made his presence felt for St. Jude with 13 points.
