CEBU, Philippines —  The Bangon Philippine Outsourcing (BPO Partylist) represented by industry leader Mike Cubos, gained support from Congressman Duke Frasco.

The Cebuano-led  BPO Partylist first nominee Cubos, together with industry leaders, met with Frasco to discuss ways in which Congress and the National Government can help the thriving BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) sector in Cebu and in the Philippines.

“Considering the size of the BPO industry in the Philippines and the billions of Pesos this industry contributes to our local and national economy, it’s about time the BPO sector is given representation and given a voice in Congress,” said Frasco during the dialogue with stakeholders.

The BPO Partylist is the first partylist group to ever vie for a seat in Congress seeking to represent one of the biggest industries in the country. Having been duly recognized by the COMELEC in its official publication, the BPO Partylist is on the 2022 national election ballot at # 120.

Cubos, who is one of the founding leaders of the Innovation Council of Cebu, and currently serves at the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) as vice president for Mobility, wish to implement programs for the BPO sector, such as access to free call center training for LGUs (local government units), prioritizing the solo parents, displaced workers, and job seekers.

Cubos also aims to introduce laws that provide free internet to the urban areas, and more IT, call center and online freelancing jobs.

According to Cubos, if given the chance to enter the Congress, he will promote the development of homegrown BPO entrepreneurship and incubation, being a success story himself, in starting off as a call center agent to owning a BPO company.

Cubos also expressed intention to build up countryside attraction to BPO investments, as well as creating innovation and digital cities.
