Firm to supply 'best water’ to Panglao

CEBU, Philippines — A new company has shown interest in providing potable water supply for the residents and tourists in Panglao town of Bohol.

Elmer Lim, vice president of Richli Corporation, said the firm is committed to deliver the “best water in town,” after six months, in June or July this year.

This developed after Governor Edgar Chatto finally signed the excavation permit, which Richli had applied for in preparation for water pipe laying along the provincial roads.

Lim said this could be the first of its kind in Bohol providing potable water sourced out from Malingin Spring at Barangay Patrocinio in Cortes, Bohol, where the huge Abatan River flows.

Richli assured the public that the water supply is lasting and sustainable because the source is located in a 700-hectare watershed area where nature has nurtured its surroundings that serves as its catch basin, Lim said.

The corporation’s thrust of providing water is favorably endorsed by the Municipal Council, via an approved resolution considering that the pipeline would traverse two barangays of Baclayon.

Panglao town has been craving for sustainable potable water, made imperative with the growing demand, as the population and tourist arrivals grow, more so when the international airport here will be done and operational sometime this year.

Panglao officials led by Mayor Nila Montero and Vice Mayor Pedro Fuertes led the inauguration of the Panglao Water Services Inc. (PWSI), a water treatment and supply facility tapping brackish water and turning it into potable one. (FREEMAN)
