Boholano among Phl’s top students for 2013

TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines – Student and youth leader Stephen Bryan Yu Bongcaras of this city was adjudged as one of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) from among 29 other hopefuls.

Together with Bongcaras, the two other Visayan students named to the TOSP for 2013 were: Von Jovi Biala, a Bachelor in Architecture student of Foundation University in Dumaguete City, also for Region 7, and Lucellie Santibañez, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology student of West Negros University in Iloilo City, for Region 6.

Bongcaras is the son of Bob and Weng, both employees of the Bohol provincial government.

The young Bongcaras was also a recipient of the Most Outstanding Youth Leader Award of the Bohol LGU and one of the Youth Advisory Panelists of the United Nations Population Funds (UNFPA) from 2011 to 2013.

He is also this year’s awardee of the Alphonse Lesage for Leadership and Community Service conferred by his alma mater, Holy Name University, besides being chosen secretary-general of the 9th National Youth Parliament, from 2012 to 2013. (FREEMAN)
