China's foreign policy of scientific deception

WHAT MATTERS MOST - Atty. Josephus B. Jimenez - The Freeman

No matter how many hundreds, even thousands of diplomatic protests the Philippine government will file against China, or how many allies like the US, Japan, Canada, and Australia publicly denounce China's illegal and unreasonable behavior in the West Philippine Sea, China is not at all perturbed or even embarrassed before the international community of civilized nations. China does not care at all about the global pressures and denunciations.

The Philippine Senate, led by the president, has made a lot of noise in drafting a strongly-worded resolution of condemnation against the latest blatant and cavalier water bombing made by Chinese Coast Guard vessels against our small supply boats, right in the center of the Ayungin Shoal which is very much a part and parcel of our exclusive economic zone. But even Senator Robinhood Padilla would say that these are all words without concrete action. The international criticisms made by our allies do not affect the foreign policy of Beijing, which we can very well call one of scientific deception. China is never in good faith when it comes to the West Philippine Sea.

The Chinese ambassador continues to play the good boy while their coast guard in the disputed waters continue to play the bad boys. Their foreign policy is constantly one of grand deception, to say nice things with one breath and do the worst things with another. These are all scripted by the big powers of the party politburo based in Beijing. It is scientific because all their moves, all their press releases, all their propaganda are arranged in an orderly and synchronized manner. This is grand deception because China has already decided to consider the Philippines as an enemy the moment the president allowed the Americans to build more EDCA sites. Thus, all moves, all words, and all behavior of China are designed to deceive us.

We have already been deceived when our president declared that his foreign policy is for the Philippines to be a friend of all and an enemy of none. That is much easier said than done, very convenient to say but impossible to fulfill. The Philippines is already considered as an enemy by China because after the Duterte regime our country has swerved sharply to the right and has veered away from the left. I have a suspicion that the backdoor trip made by former president Duterte had all the blessings of Malacañang. It was an incognito and surreptitious act of a former head of state in order to dig deeper into the minds of the Chinese, and take a glimpse on what Beijing's plan for the West Philippine Sea really is about.

Given the contemporary events and recent developments in geopolitics, we can never consider China a friend. It has sent too many illegal aliens disguised as POGO workers. These people are spies and they are making maps and gathering information on all the nooks and crannies of our country. These were the same strategic and tactical moves that Japan did immediately prior to the Second World War. Japanese spies were deployed to the Philippines disguised as tourists, traders, and travelling merchants. But at night, they were digging tunnels and stocking up on food, supplies, tools, and equipment in preparation for their eventual invasion. China is preparing to attack the Philippines and annex our land to their nation. The US intelligence is aware of that hence, they are positing their troops in strategic EDCA sites.

And so, we should think, act and behave with this firmly-anchored premise in mind: China is going to attack us. Now, the Chinese are playing games with us. They are aiming at a hegemony in Asia Pacific. They want the oil in the West Philippine Sea. They want control of the navigation in the area. They want all US allies out, including Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines. We can and should pray for the best scenario. But we must be prepared for the worst. We are being deceived, hoodwinked, and misled to believe that China is a friend. That is the greatest baloney if we take their words for it. China under Xi Jinping can never be trusted. Never forget that.
