The fault is not in our stars

There is one famous line in Julius Caesar by Shakespeare where Cassius said to Brutus, “Men at some time are masters of their fates: The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves, that we are underlings”.

I don’t believe in preordained destiny. It’s our responsibility to carve our own future. In fact, we have so much control over it. Life is what you make it, they say. We grab every opportunity that we think would help us, cut ties with people who are not in line with our values anymore, make friends to acquaintances because you share the same interests or even engage in a conversation to strangers. These are our choices and our actions will definitely have corresponding effects, and most of their outcomes will not be in favor to what we have envisioned.

And that is okay.

Franklin Roosevelt once said, “Men are not prisoners of fate, but only prisoners of their own minds”. Fate can’t move mountains but we can. As humans, when we underperform, we have a tendency to leave it all up to fate. This means we don’t do anything and we just let things unfold naturally. Why do we resign ourselves and leave the outcome because it’s outside our control?.

Some people hate gutsy people. When we choose to evolve and not follow the status quo, we have to be prepared that some people will not like us for it or for that matter, hate us. It’s human nature and it will all boils down to our biological wiring, it may have reminded them that they were not brave enough and gave up on their dreams, in denial of the fact they are living a mediocre life or just mere inferiority complex. These kind of people cannot afford to see successful people of what they are, courageous.

There is no shame to work hard to get what we want. We don’t have to feel guilty about it. Most of us here are not given the same opportunities to shake hands with some people, others did a little bit of extra effort to get where they are today.

And I am one of those. We all should be responsible of our own fate, instead of making convenient excuses, we must take actions.
