Biblical events come to mind as May 9 elections draw near.
First, will history show a David victory for Leni Robredo, against Marcos Jr. and his giant machinery- the questionable unexplained wealth/power/political connections/control?
Samuel 17 described the giant Goliath as about “six cubits and a span (or about 9 feet 9 inches), fully protected with a “bronze helmet on his head, a coat of scale armor of bronze weighing five thousand shekels (about 58 kilograms), bronze greaves on his legs, a bronze javelin slung on his back, his spear shaft like a weaver’s rod, and its iron point weighed six hundred shekels (about 6.9 kilograms) with his shield bearer ahead of him.”
In contrast, David, who had only “his staff in his hand, five smooth stones from the stream which he put in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag with his sling in his hand,” bravely approached and told the Philistine who ridiculed/taunted him: “You come against me with sword, spear, javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword/spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”
God-graced David slayed giant Goliath.
Is this next Joshua 13 story, about Israel and the Holy Ark at the River Jordan, another strong reminder for the Kakampinks/the LeniKikoTeam?
“Joshua told the people: Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”
The Lord said to Joshua: “Today I will begin to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel, so they may know that I am with you as I was with Moses. Tell the priests who carry the ark of the covenant: ‘When you reach the edge of the Jordan’s waters, go/stand in the river.
Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest.
Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge, the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away, while the water flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah-the Dead Sea- was completely cut off!
So the people crossed over opposite Jericho.
While the priests who carried the Lord’s Ark of the Covenant stopped in the middle of the Jordan/stood on dry ground, all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground.”
Will the LeniKiko Team/Kakampinks, in full faith in God, push forward until May 9 and together with the whole nation, successfully/victoriously cross the challenging “Jordan River” of trolls/lies/misinformation/insincere candidates plus strong currents of gold//power/more?
Then, this Red Sea Miracle reminder: The Egyptians—all Pharaoh’s horses/chariots/horsemen/troops—pursued the Israelites and overtook them.
“I will gain glory for myself through Pharaoh/all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord.”
Moses told the terrified Israelites: “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still. And as Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, the Lord drove the sea back, the waters were divided and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and left.”
