Their mother, stricken with a terminal disease, stayed at the hospital for 14 days. Of her five surviving children, only two sisters had looked after her from Day 1.

A son, who got a fortune from running his own businesses, financed the hospital stay.

He gave P50,000 to one and P25,000 to the other sister to cover the daily expenses while in the hospital (excluding the actual hospital bill).

The mother soon died. One sister was left with roughly P32,000, the other with P18,000. Both were unreturned.

An EAR informer said they “earned” from the hospitalization of their mother.
