Did Pres. Aquino allow us to be a narco state?

SHOOTING STRAIGHT - Bobit S. Avila - The Freeman

For our special presentation on our talkshow on Straight from the Sky, we are honored to have with us the Head of the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office Fiscal Glicera Lofranco-Rabillas who was appointed to her position last February 2016. I first met her way back in the 2010 when she headed the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) with the Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority (MICAA). Thanks to her tireless work there, the Philippines is now reduced to Tier-One, meaning that we have done a lot to reduce or stop human trafficking in the country.

As Cebu City Fiscal, her main problem, is the situation in her office, which is in the Palace of Justice, which has been declared as “condemned” by the Office of the Building Official. Yet due to problems where to transfer their office (private companies do not want to rent the Fiscal’s Office any space owing to the reality that prisoners are sent everyday for processing in her office. This is a real problem that needs real solutions. Hopefully under the Duterte administration, the Department of Justice would build a new building for the Cebu City Prosecutor’s office in the near future.

So watch this interesting interview with Fiscal Rabillas on SkyCable’s channel 53 at 8:00PM tonight with replays on Wednesday and Saturday. We also have replays on MyTV channel 30 at 9:00PM tonight and at 7:00AM and 9:00PM respectively on Wednesday and Friday.

The first week in office of President Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte was so dramatic that netizens came up with a “comparo list” for what Pres. Duterte has done in six days as compared to Pres. PNoy Aquino’s six years. On the side of Pres. Duterte where a list of 27 things that he has done in those six days while on the list for Pres. PNoy, it only list “No More Wangwang!”

Kidding aside, despite the President’s shying away from the limelight of the media, there are so many news items that we just can’t possibly write about all of them in one column. Of course we already wrote about the most dramatic, drastic earth-shattering events when Pres. Duterte himself gave us the biggest breaking news ever that we’ve heard during the 69th anniversary of the Philippine Air Force in Clark Field when he named five Police Generals that were allegedly involved in illegal drugs.

The people named by the President are Deputy Director General and former Region-7 Police Director Marcelo Garbo, Jr., Bernardo Diaz, Edgardo Tinio, Joel Pagdilao and Daanbantayan Mayor Vicente Loot. All were tagged by Pres. Duterte as “drug protectors” or members of the “Triad.” Also named by the President is a Mr. Peter Lim. Of course everyone assumed that this is the same Peter Lim that was subjected to a congressional investigation several years ago. But as the lawyer of the Cebuano Peter Lim, Atty. Discoro Fuentes, Jr. revealed, there are 110 Peter Lim’s in this country.

What Pres. Duterte mentioned was that Peter Lim was out of the country and he would be dead when he enters the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. So is this the same Peter Lim that we know of? I suggest that the Department of Justice should now do its job in investigating this person whosoever is this Peter Lim. What I do know is that Peter Lim of Cebu has not left Cebu. He is here and he is not in hiding.

Then there is the case of retired Police General and concurrent Daanbantayan Mayor Vicente Loot, Jr. who say that he was investigated and cleared some years back for unexplained wealth, which he attributes to his wife. Again the only way to move forward in this case is also to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation so it can be proven whether these people are innocent or not.

Finally the name of Deputy Director General and former Region-7 Police Director Marcelo Garbo, Jr. also surfaced. He was PRO-7 Director and figured as the “point man” that ejected then beleaguered Governor Gwen F. Garcia when the Office of the President suspended her. Photos of Gen. Garbo in a yellow shirt obviously tagged him as a loyal follower of former DILG Sec. Mar Roxas, who has distanced himself from Gen. Garbo.

What has happened these days had many netizen’s praising Pres. Duterte for exposing those Police Officers, something that no President had the balls to do so. Just looking at my Facebook account, you will see people who once disliked Mayor Duterte during the campaign for his foul mouth and uncouth behavior but are now praying for his safety. Did I tell you that for me, Pres. Duterte was sent by God in order to rid our country of the cancer of illegal drugs, which flourished so much during the Aquino regime.

Mind you, his intelligence reports on the Police Generals did not exactly surface recently. So why did the Aquino regime allow this nation to be a narco state? This is one sin of omission by Pres. PNoy Aquino!
