It is the street in Guizo, Mandaue situated in what is called "Centro" of Mandaue, it intersects Cabahug Street along the City Hall. The honoree's initial represents the name, Alejandro Ouano del Rosario. Alejandro del Rosario served the people of Mandawe (later respelled to what it is now, Mandaue) for 18 years as Municipal President.
Alejandro was the Chief Executive of Mandawe during the American occupation. It was del Rosario who succeeded Segundo Jayme as Chief Executive of Mandawe and later replaced by Ariston Cortes.
Alejandro married Genoveva Sanchez Mendoza. The couple's ancestral home was located near the corner of Cabahug Street and the street named in honor of Alejandro.
The del Rosario couple produced ten children, who like Alejandro served God and Country. Here they are:
(1)Vicenta married Leoncio Labucay (only son of Estanislao Labucay and Anacieta Labucay). One of Cebu's oldest building that still exists is the "Labucay Building." It was built sometime in 1948 by Estanislao Labucay, in front of University of San Jose Recoletos, corner Magallanes and Calderon Streets;
(2)Modesta married Ramon Melgar of Dumanjug, Cebu. Ramon was Dean of Cebu Normal School (converted into a university) for decades. The first municipal government of Dumanjug was organized by Pedro Rocamora and Rev. Father Agustin Melgar in 1855;
(3)Felicidad married Alexander Chiongbian, the family that built the William Lines Shipping Lines. Alexander is the second of the seven children of Don Victoriano Chiongbian. The patriarch of the Chiongbian's (Victoriano) was the son of Joaquin Chiong and Magna Taghap, who established their home in Jimenez, Misamis Occidental. The eldest son of Victoriano by the name of William is the name behind the famous William Lines Shipping of one of the country's first commercial shipping lines. Victoriano became the first Municipal Mayor of Don Mariano Marcos in Misamis Occidental. The municipality was organized by virtue of Batas Pambansa Bilang 171 on February 8, 1982. On January 20, 1990 by virtue of Republic Act 6845 the municipality was renamed from Don Mariano Marcos to Don Victoriano Chiongbian. A grandson of Don Victoriano by the name of Edgar (son of Alexander) continues to serve the community as District Governor of the Rotary Club of Cebu;
(4) Marcelina married Apolonio Gonzaga who was Mayor of Mandaue for two terms he succeeded Urbano M. Seno and in turn was succeeded by Conrado D. Seno;
(5) Celestino married Nena Macerin of Bohol. Both are Doctors of Medicine and lived in New York;
(6) Conchita married a Noel of Carcar, Cebu. Conchita like her sister Marcelina were long time teachers of CSJR now USJR in its Main Campus in Magallanes St., Cebu City;
(7) Alberto married to Sofing (of the catering business);
(8) Marcelo married to Remedios of Bohol;
(9) Flora married Pedro Yap of San Isidro, Leyte. Yap finished his Bachelor of Laws at the University of the Philippines and topped the Bar Examinations in 1946 with a rating of 91.7 %. Appointed by President Aquino as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court on April 8, 1986 and became Chief Justice on April 19, 1988 and retired on June 30, 1988. Pedro and Flora had four children, Emmanuel, Janette, Pedro Jr. and Steve. CJ Yap before his appointment with the Supreme Court was appointed member with the Presidential Commission on Good Government. The then Chairman of the PCGG, Senator Jovito Salonga was CJ Yap law partner when he returned to the Philippines in 1964 after joining the United Nations (worked from 1952 to 1963);
(10) Romulo married Nena Fernan (sister of Chief Justice Marcelo Briones Fernan). Romulo an Engineer went to Manila and served the government as City Engineer of Manila.
