October 31 deadline for overseas registration

This is the correct date - October 31 is the deadline for overseas registration!

I am so sorry for confusing this date with the period for REACTIVATION of voting registration records which was EXTENDED until DECEMBER 9, 2015.

Secretary Imelda Nicolas of the Commission of Filipinos Overseas (CFO) shared the reminders from Ms. Mila Magno about these important dates for all Filipinos abroad. Allow us to share those important reminders for our overseas Filipinos and kindly please share these reminders as well to all those abroad among your family, friends, neighbors, and all else you can reach.

For those who want to vote in the May 9, 2016 Philippine national elections, please register by October 31, 2015 which is the deadline. COMELEC has announced that this deadline will not be extended.

For DUAL CITIZENS, you are encouraged not to lose your opportunity to vote. For guidance, please refer to this website http://irehistro.comelec.gov.ph/ov and follow the instructions on how to fill out OVF No. 1 Registration Form ("Apply for Registration").

For CITIZENS WHO WISH TO APPLY FOR DUAL CITIZENSHIP SO THEY CAN VOTE, please go to the Philippine Bureau of Immigration site for information: http://www.immigration.gov.ph/index.php/services/citizenship-retention-and-aquisition/application-for-retention-re-acquisition-of-phil-citizenship Please Note that after you become dual, you still need to register as an overseas voter.  You must do this by October 31st, 2015.

For DEACTIVATED OVERSEAS VOTERS, those who have not voted during the two previous national elections, chances are you have been deactivated and you must re-register. The deadline for reactivation has been extended to December 9, 2015

Please check the COMELEC WEBSITE (http://irehistro.comelec.gov.ph/ov)  to see if your name is in the list. Go to this website and follow the instructions on how to fill out the OVF No. 1G Reactivation Form ("Apply for Reactivation"). Try to click this link as well to view the entire list: DeactivatedVotersList.aboutmar.info.

Let us all do our share and help pass this information around.

The Center for Migrant Advocacy ( CMA) also shared the information that there are 163,019 registered overseas voters now in the Deactivation List of Comelec!

As every vote counts, let us try to reach out to all qualified voters to exercise their right to vote!!
