Using the name of God in vain

I heard this on radio: "Mapalit kining tambala sa botika, pharmacy o ba kaha sa drugstore."

GMA whom everyone called "Ate Glo" before her fall, says she doesn't want her jailers to suffer the same fate she has been suffering from for some years now. Wonder who're the jailers ate Glo has in mind?

A survey by the Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas shows that OFW families at home are saving less in the banks. Maybe their savings are in the piggy banks or under the pillows.

A catechist asked me: "Is it all right for those girls in showbiz to exclaim "Oh, my God:" even for no valid reason at all?" I said I'll ask for the opinion of some religious leaders. "Isn't that using the name of God in vain?" she asked further.

Many showbiz and high society girls do not anymore mention the name of God when they exclaim. They now say "ohmigosh" or just "OMG." Yesterday I saw an article title in the showbiz page that simply said: "Oh, my G!" No more God, not even OMG.

VP Jojo Binay is said (in the news) to be leading the government effort to save the Pinay death convict (for drugs) in Indonesia. Binay knows the chance to save our girl is like a shot at the moon. But Binay continues to try. Successful or not, Jojo gains one more pogi point.

As I write this a super typhoon is threatening to enter the country during this Holy Week. The typhoon named Mysack (local name: Chedeng) has been out-raced by the Intensity 5 earthquake that rocked many areas in the Visayas including Cebu and Bohol last Monday.

The DOH says more Pinoys are getting the HIV through paid sex. The media call is "transactional sex." Pretty soon this term will find its way in the international dictionaries. And once again our word smiths will be credited for it.
