Traders air concerns on business permits

CEBU, Philippines – A group of small businessmen in Cebu will lobby to all local government units in Metro Cebu to fast-track the release of business permits of those who want to secure permits and renew them.

During the year-end meeting of Cebu Business Club Inc. headed by businessman Rey Calooy, some of its members aired their concerns on securing business permits.

Some of these businessmen are based in Cebu City and they hope that the city government will look into their problems.

Members of the club asked Calooy to make representation with the local government units in addressing the problem.

Cebu City Councilor Alvin Dizon, who was also present during the meeting, said he will look into the concerns of the businessmen in the city.

Dizon said he will relay the concern to the City Council Committee on Business chaired by Councilor Hanz Abella.

Small businessmen in Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu and Talisay Cities were also present during the meeting.

Some traders reportedly face issues upon renewal and securing of business permits. Some local government units reportedly ask several requirements to businessmen that cause them inconvenience.

Calooy said the local government should put a system where businessmen can secure their permits and renew business permits.

He further said a one-stop shop for businessmen should be established.
