ARQ-Talisay starts hot in Northball U25 caging

CEBU, Philippines —  The ARQ Builders-Talisay City got off to the best possible start they could, thrashing Headway/Lapu-Lapu City, 115-89, in the Northball Under 25 Inter-Town Basketball Tournament over the weekend at the Lapu-Lapu City Court 1.

Elmer Villabrille sizzled with 18 points, while Kim Trigue and Clark Louis Ruedas combined for 29 points for ARQ-Talisay of coach Ronald Bucao, which trailed by a hairline, 26-27, after the first 10 minutes of play.

But ARQ-Talisay staged a fierce counter-attack in the second period, 32-16, to seize the lead at halftime, 58-43, for good.

ARQ-Talisay sustained its momentum the rest of the way on the way to come up with a merciless 26-point blowout.

Over at the Pasil basketball court, the Liloan Tornadoes decimated Triple R-Cebu City, 108-79.

In the other results, the Red Lions Sea Faring-Toledo City edged the Black Riders-Aloguinsan, 93-89,  Team Na May Puso-Compostela bested Rongcales Customs Brokerage/Lapu-Lapu City also via 93-89 decision, while Danao Gun City shot down Catmon Ever Sure, 104-65. — EBV
