Asian Orthopedics, Cebu Landmasters stay hot in SHAABAA

CEBU, Philippines —  The rampaging Asian Orthopedics 2014 and Cebu Landmasters 2003 sustained their hot streak in the Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) Season 25 last Sunday, August 14, at the Magis Eagles Arena of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.

Lucky Ecarma came up with a sterling double-double show of 21 points and 17 rebounds as the Asian Orthopedics overcame the equally-tough Storage Town 2015, 62-60, in a thrilling battle of undefeated squads.

Arvid Jason Ong added  15 points, two rebounds and two assists while Jair Igna tallied 12 markers on top of four boards as Batch 2014 solidified its hold of the solo Division C lead with an immaculate 5-0 record.

 Felixberto Jaboneta scattered 17 points, 12 rebounds and four assists while Chaz Cokaliong cashed in 14 points but to no avail as Batch 2015 suffered its first setback in three starts.

In the other Division C duel, Mitch Almodal sizzled with 17 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals as RDAK Powersports 2020 barged into the win column with a 97-62 obliteration of the listless Batch 2019.

Zeke Swayze Himaya and Romeo Jabalon each scored 14 for Batch 2020, which pounded the hapless Batch 2019 quarter after quarter on the way to a 35-point cakewalk.

In Division B, the Cebu Landmasters coasted to its fourth consecutive victory via a 94-61 rout of Batch 2005.

Wilmer Rodney Ong unloaded 22 points and 14 rebounds while Daryle Tan chipped in 17 points and eight rebounds for Batch 2003, which was in complete command after racing to a blistering 27-12 start.

Still in Division B, Leigh Christian Dixon delivered another monster performance of  27 points and an eye-popping 37 rebounds laced with four assists and two steals to power the Bad Boys Wingz 2007 to an 81-62 rout of Marjaztin Glass Trading & Construction 2008.

  Aaron John de los Reyes contributed 17 points, while Karl de Pio banged in solid numbers with 15 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and three steals  in Batch 2007’s back-to-back triumphs. — EBV
