Lucky 7 for Labangon

CEBU, Philippines —  Glyzah Mae Getaruelas shined the brightest as the Labangon bets stamped their classes anew to rule the fourth leg of 1st Cebu City Barangay Grassroots Online Dancesport Competition over the weekend.

Getaruelas came up with a golden double for Labangon, which topped the two-day tilt seven gold, nine silver, and five bronze medals.

Gertarules claimed her gilts in the Junior II girls closed chachacha and jive.

The other gold medallists from Labangon were Faith Quintero (Juvenile II girls jive),  Mary Joy Marzon (Juvenile II girls open chachacha),  Elijah Bani (Juvenile II boys chachacha), Shadelle Nin~a Hernandez (Junior I girls open chachacha), and Rich Jaeon Uy (Junior I boys open jive).

City Central School took the second place honors with five golds, four silvers and three bronzes, while Mambaling placed third overall with a 3-1-4 gold-silver-bronze medal tally followed by Cogon-Ramos with three golds and one silver. The fifth to eighth spots were occupied by Pardo (2-5-1), Tejero (2-2-1), Guadalupe (2-1-1), and Sambag I (2-1-0).

Jovie Item produced a double gold for City Central via the Juvenile I girls chachacha and jive, in the same way with Alexandra Mongas in the Junior I girls closed jive and chachacha. John Lester Pilapil handed City Central's fifth gold in Juvenile I boys chachacha.

Mining three golds for Mambaling were Jaydel Pat (Junior II boys open chachacha), Arnis Esco (Junior I boys closed jive), and Ashley Lorraine Rosales (Juvenile II girls chachacha), while Cogon-Ramos bagged two golds from Charles Mansueto in the Youth boys chachacha and jive and one from Sofia Isabella Maree Quilaton  in Junior I girls open jive.

Pardo claimed its two golds from Jannah Marie Pugoy in the Youth girls open chachacha and Mae Ann Mejo in the Youth girls jive, Tejero swept the golds and silvers in the Youth girls closed chachacha and jive courtesy of Lorraine Cueva and Melrose Villahermosa, Guadalupe drew golden performances from Wenson Abella in the Junior I boys closed chachacha and Cyrus Abrlla in the Juvenile I boys jive, while Sambag I pocketed golds behind the efforts of Christian Pino in the Junior II boys open jive and Kharl Michael Min~oza in the Junior I boys open chachacha.

The rest of the gold medallists were Ran Marie Princess Escuadro of Inayawan (Juvenile II girls open jive), Jan Onig Paguig of Punta Princesa (Juvenile II boys jive), Trixie Pearl Dicdican of Ermita (Juniors II girls open chachacha), and Kerstein Althea Asuque of Sambag 2 (Junior II girls open jive).

Drawing its biggest entries at 160 since its launching last July 4, the once every two weeks tournament  organized by the Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC) headed by chairman Edward Hayco was participated in mostly by underprivileged athletes that reside in different depressed barangays under strict quarantine measures with their parents. It aims to give them hope and positive activity during these hard times.
